Frequently Asked Questions

Much of the allure of being a Scottish Rite Mason is the unique Brotherhood that ignites when we gather in fraternity and friendship. These fraternal bonds have been sorely missed in these times of uncertainty.

Through the Cinematic Reunions, we will not only come together with Brothers from our own Valleys, but throughout our State of Missouri, and beyond. We will join together to engage with the teachings of our craft, reflect on our values, and learn from each other. In short, Cinematic Reunions are a way for new members to enter our great Brotherhood, and for current members to “meet” in a safe and convenient way. It is a time to welcome new Brothers and reconnect with friends old and new.

The Cinematic Reunions will provide a full Scottish Rite experience. In addition to the Degree presentations, you will meet various Scottish Rite leaders from our jurisdiction and beyond, learn about Scottish Rite programs, and have the opportunity to interact “live” with other candidates and long-time members. Some of the specific presentations which will be incorporated throughout each showing of the Missouri Scottish Rite Cinematic Reunion include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Scottish Rite Foundation of Missouri and its Four Philanthropic Pillars
    • Scottish Rite RiteCare Childhood Language and Learning Programs and Clinics
    • Masonic Youth Leadership Organizations
    • Scholarships
    • Disaster Relief
  • Structure and Organization of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry
  • Meaning and History of the Various Scottish Rite Caps
  • Explanation of the Scottish Rite Four Bodies
    • Lodge of Perfection
    • Chapter Rose Croix
    • Council of Kadosh
    • Consistory of Masters of the Royal Secret
  • Masonic Education
    • Scottish Rite Research Society
    • Scottish Rite Master Craftsman Program
    • Freemasonry and the Ancient Mysteries
    • History and Meaning of the Chivalric Degrees
    • Scottish Rite Origins and History
    • Scottish Rite Symbolism and Philosophy

Similar to in-person Reunions, the Cinematic Reunions will create a shared moment in time that unites our Fraternity as we explore the highest principles, teachings, and ideals of the Masonic Craft. While we are not holding Traditional Live Reunions at any of our Valleys during this time, each Valley is encouraged to hold individual “Viewing-Parties” for members and candidates, where deemed appropriate, and by following all public guidelines for health and safety.

You must be a Master Mason in good standing who has applied for membership to the Scottish Rite. If your application has been approved, your status will be “candidate.” All candidates may take part in the Cinematic Reunions, whether through the convenience of your home setting, or at a Valley Viewing-Party.

Missouri Master Masons in good standing may join with the approval of the Valley in which he seeks to be a member.

Master Masons in good standing from the other 49 states and territories of the Southern Jurisdiction may join with the approval of the Valley he seeks to join as well as the permission of the Sovereign Grand Inspector General or Deputy of the State.

Master Masons from jurisdictions other than the Southern and/or Northern Jurisdictions of the United States of America may not join the Scottish Rite at these Cinematic Reunions.

All current members of the Southern and Northern Jurisdictions of the United States Scottish Rite in good standing may register to attend, and in fact MUST register to be able to attend, even if you are witnessing the Reunions at a Viewing-Party or some other location.

There is no fee to attend for current Scottish Rite Members in good standing.

Everyone is welcome to become a Member of our Success For Life Today program to support our Scottish Rite Charities.

We recommend using a current, supported version of Windows or Mac operating system and the latest version of your preferred web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft as of January 2020 and there are known compatibility issues with this operating system used in conjunction with Internet Explorer 11. If you are a Windows 7 user, we recommend using the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge web browsers.

Users with slower internet connections can potentially experience choppy audio/video playback. Video resolution can be downgraded to improve playback performance by clicking on the gear icon in the lower right corner of the video player, but we recommend any solution that allows you to view the Cinematic Reunions in Full 4K Ultra High Definition for the greatest possible visual experience.

Log in with your member ID and password you created during registration, and you will be able to enter the Reunion viewing area. The next event will be available to view at ANYTIME during Thursday, December 29 through Saturday, December 31.

The events for each Reunion are available at www.scottishrite.live. By registering, you are welcome to attend and view the Cinematic Reunion at anytime during the three-day period of December 29-31, 2022. Yes! Participation in the Cinematic Reunion will make you a 32° Scottish Rite Mason. However, while you will officially be a Scottish Rite Freemason and a fully vested member of the Scottish Rite after attending these two programs, we strongly recommend attending a Live Traditional Reunion at your earliest opportunity to share in the Brotherhood and to participate in or otherwise experience the “live” Degrees. In addition to the Scottish Rite Reunions, some of our Valleys in Missouri also offer what are called “Capping Ceremonies,” which are public events for close friends and family members to attend to witness newly made Scottish Rite Members receive their official Scottish Rite Caps through a special ceremony dedicated solely to this auspicious occasion.

Following the Cinematic Reunion, candidates will be directed to a quick survey about your viewing experience of the Cinematic Reunion. Once you attest that you have participated in the entire Virtual Reunion upon your Masonic honor, your information will be submitted to your chosen Valley of Membership. Your Valley Leadership will enter your information into the Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction membership database. Post this step, you will then be able to log into the Scottish Rite Member Center on the Southern Jurisdiction Supreme Council website to view and manage your account. You will also have the option to receive your Missouri Scottish Rite Patent of Membership and various accoutrement either in the mail directly to your home, at your local Scottish Rite Valley, or during the next Live Traditional Reunion or Capping Ceremony – depending on your respective Valley.

Yes! The 32nd Degree will be conveyed and communicated during the Cinematic Reunion. Registered attendees and subscribers to the Missouri Scottish Rite will be updated as to the exact show schedule. Other features will be made available leading up to the specific show dates.

Functionality on the website may vary from user to user, depending on your device and settings. We recommend using a traditional desktop or laptop computer with an internet browsing application like GoogleChrome, Safari or Internet Explorer, for the best possible user experience.
